My name is J.J. Thomasson and I'm running for Newnan City Council in District 3. I was raised in Newnan and my family has lived here for 7 generations. I am running for this seat because I want to serve the district where I was raised and where my wife and I are raising our young children. I believe I am the best person to represent the citizens of District 3 into the future.

 

I work for a small family business that invests in commercial properties in Coweta County, redevelops, manages, and holds them for the long term. When we are making decisions about whether or not to purchase a property, we consider the impacts from short term to many generations into the future. This is the same way I intend to make decisions on behalf of the City of Newnan and District 3. We can't just think about the present. We need to build the Newnan that our children and our children's grandchildren will want to live in.

 

My mission does not end at making Newnan a safe and pretty place to live; we have to make sure we create a favorable atmosphere for local jobs, entrepreneurs, and businesses to thrive. We have a great opportunity to position Newnan for even more success, while preserving the things that make it special.

 

I will bring a fresh perspective and a lot of energy to the City Council if the citizens of District 3 will give me the chance. I am proud to be invested in Newnan, Georgia and I value the feeling of community that drew me back to Newnan after college. I'm proud of where we are, but I think there is so much more we can do to prepare for a successful future.
